Memorial Day 2007

Today I made my annual trek to Ashtabula County. I usually go much earlier in May, but I was in California this year. My job was much easier than usual, because all the trimming had been done by the the people who tend the cemeteries. I went to the Lenox Cemetery, The Rays Corner Cemetery, (I did not ring the bell this time) and the one in Edgewood near Ashtabula. I planted flowers at several graves. Some I knew and loved very much. Others I never met, but I know their stories. I took a picture of my Watson grandparents since Bridget was born on Grandma Ida's birthday - May 10. I especially noticed the Veteran flags this year.

Today I went on a field trip with the sixth grade to the Great Lakes Science Center. They featured the history of baseball. What fun it was. There were lots of pictures and trivia facts about baseball players from my youth. I'm not sure how much the students enjoyed all this, but it was a trip down memory lane for me. I remember going to an Indians game where I saw Ted Williams play. I wish I still had all the baseball cards I collected during that era.

A Visit from Ben

What a treat. Ben stopped in for a visit today on his way to Kent. He is in town for the May 4 Memorial and the Jawbone Poetry Event. We are always glad to see him and hear what is going on in California.
