The Blue Lady was framed.

Latin ruled in the Willis household during the late 80's and through most of the 90's. Many Willis projects won awards over the years, helping to make the Stow High School Junior Classical League number one in the state for decades. This particular picture won a first prize in the state competition. I confess I let the artist stay home from school one day, because she needed to have one more entry and time was running short. I meant to get it framed several years ago, but it languished under beds and behind dressers. Congratulations, Katherine, on a job well done.

An Unlikely Protest

I think it is not in the nature of teachers to be protesting. However, we Tallmadge teachers have not had a contract since the last one expired on August 14. Tonight we dressed in matching orange shirts and attended the board meeting in mass. Supporters from the neighboring communities of Stow and Cuyahoga Falls attended, also. These districts recently went through difficult negotations, but now have fair and equitable contracts.

The New Floor

Our new floor is in, and we disposed of almost all the dust this project caused. We think it makes the house look at least a bit more up-to-date.

The Turtle

One of the funniest pictures of the summer was when Gracie and Lily played in our backyard. Lily somehow ended up on her back. Since she does not like the feeling of grass, she just waited with her arms and legs in the air until someone rescued her.

Gracie looked on observing the phenomena.

Go Bucks

The Buckeyes are back in action. It was amusing to see our friend, Paul Droste, directing the Star Spangled Banner at the pre-game with two large penguins standing next to him. There are always a few surprises at an Ohio State football game. Since the game started at noon, we pulled into our parking spot at 7:10. We did out usual tailgating with my cousins, the Stewarts. After a delicious breakfast, we headed to St. John's and mingled with the 700+ alumni marching band members. The Buckeyes won the game with Youngstown State 38-6. We arrived back home in time to see the Indians play the Chicago White Sox.
