Christmas 2007

The Christmas season is almost over. We had many good times. One of our holiday traditions is a visit to the Don Drumm Art Gallery the day after Christmas. This year Marie and Lily went with us. Considering there are so many things to break there, Lily did a wonderful job of holding hands when in the gallery. She even received a sticker, which she proudly wore when we went to lunch at Bob Evans.
If you have not had the opportunity to visit the beautiful things at Don Drumm, it is well worth your time - anytime of the year. It is located just a few blocks from the University of Akron campus.

Christmas Memories

I enjoy trying to remember different things that happened around Christmas time. It goes all the way back to the time my brother always got so excited about Christmas that he was allowed to open up a present every day about a week before Christmas - as long as he closed it up again.
I like to think about all the fun times when we go to Pizza Hut on Christmas Eve. It all started when Elizabeth was in the 5:00 church service, and we did not have time to eat dinner at home. Two of the Pizza Huts we went to are not even in existence anymore. The one we went to this year became a Pizza Hut Bistro a few years ago. Things certainly do change.
I also enjoyed seeing some of the children I watched grow up come back for the Christmas Eve Service tonight. Emily C., John B., and Mike and Matt S. were there. They all said to say hi.
The picture for tonight is another favorite memory. Helene, Laura, Mary and I were known as the CMT (Can't Miss a Thing). We always met on the first Saturday of December to have breakfast in downtown Akron and look at the Christmas tree display at Quaker Square. We four friends always had a lovely time together.

Looking back

I was looking for some old Christmas pictures this morning, and came across this photo. It reminded me of the picture of Bridget recently posted on Elizabeth's blog when she looked a little on the grumpy side. Do you see any resemblance?

Just In

There is no school in the Tallmadge City School District today due to the weather conditions. D is out doing the driveway as I write, because I did not get the call until 6:00am. Hm, I am all dressed and have no place to go. I guess I will have another cup of coffee and watch the news.

An hour with friends

Today after church we went to Isalys, which is a quaint restaurant that reminds one of the old days. It was a pleasant way to spend what was rapidly becoming a blizzard outside.
There were also people we knew in the booth right behind us. Our paper person Ellen, who broke her arm last week delivering the Beacon, was having lunch with her daugher Kara and family. You can always see people you know when you go to Isalys.
